Designing a Brochure for Patagonia
As part of the Design II - Collateral Communication Course in the Design Communication Arts Program at UCLA Extension.
THE CHALLENGE
Patagonia is an apparel retailer known for its upscale outdoor clothing and its aggressive environmental advocacy. With the purpose of increasing awareness of Patagonia and its environmental efforts, a brochure was designed and produced for the brand.
The challenge lied in designing a visually compelling brochure that effectively communicated Patagonia's brand essence, while ensuring this small piece of print material wasn't overcrowded with information and didn't feel disposable to the reader.

THE SOLUTION
In addressing this challenge, the design approach embraces the core values of Patagonia—environmental consciousness, a profound love for nature, and a spirit of freedom. The color palette selected draws from serene, beachy tones, incorporating muted earthy shades of yellow, red, green, and blue. This palette not only resonates with the brand's commitment to nature but also evokes a sense of tranquility and harmony.
The design process centers around creating a visually appealing and informative brochure that efficiently conveys a wealth of information within a compact format. Careful consideration is given to the layout, ensuring that critical details are clear and easily accessible to the reader.
By striking a balance between aesthetic appeal and informative content, the brochure serves as a valuable piece of collateral that resonates with its audience, effectively conveying Patagonia's message of environmental stewardship and showcasing its upscale outdoor apparel.
